Sea Change
 
What with all my Patch-ing, driving back and forth between Columbia and St. Louis, and general  sense of transition,  I’ve been “too busy” to write anything for myself.  Sound familiar?  On Wednesday, I move into my new place.  Unlike the current apartment, it has a bedroom AND an office.  The office has lots of windows and overlooks a leafy one-way street not far from Forest Park.  At the corner is a coffee shop!  I am so excited to have a neighborhood java joint, I can’t even tell you.

A short story saga
 
I have been writing for as long as I can remember.  The “Stories” folder on my MacBook desktop is chock full of beginnings, middles, ends, outslines, query letters, character sketches -- you name it.  Toward the end of 2009, I sent out reams of paper to about fifty literary journals around the country, hoping either “Eleni and Me,” or “Heaven or the Deep Blue Sea” would find a home.
